STEAMER REPORTED ABLAZE.

UNIDENTIFIED OWING TO

SMOKE

NO SIGN OF LIFE

HALIFAX, (N.S.), May 5. An unidentified .steamer, on fire is reported three hundred milus south of Cape Race by the steamer Zeydlitz, which was unable to identify the vessel owing to the thick smoke. There Vas no sign of life discoverable.

The Zeydlitz called other'liners by wireless, the Lachem, Brand erburg, Olympia and Frauconca responding, but not a trace of the ship's boats was found! The fate of the crew is a mystery.
