EDUCATION BOARD, AUCKLAND.

TECHNICAL -EDUCATION AND MANUAL TRAINING BRANCH.

REPORT OF TECHNICAL AND MANUAL TRAINING COMMITTEE. The committee met in the Director's at the Technical College on Tuesday, April 7th, at 3' p.m. The only member of the committee present was the Chairman, Mr G. J. Garland. The Chairman makes the following recommendations to the Board: — ' (1) That Mr A. W. Brockie be appointed male clerk at a salary of £120 per annum. ' (2) That the appointment of Chief Mechanical Master be left in the hands of the Chairman and Director, with power to act. (3) That Miss C. M. Austin be appointed teacher-in-training. in Cookery and Laundrywork at the Newtbn Manual Training School, at a salary r- f £15 per annum. (4) That Miss Alice Dobson be appointed teacher-in-training in Domestic Science at the Technical College, at a salary of £15 per annum, with boarding alolwance of £25 per annum. (5) That the wages of the caretaker, Richard M. Burtenshaw, be increased from £2 to £2 5s per week. (6) That the salary of Miss A. F. C. Marsdon, Domestic Science teacher at Newton Manual Training School, be increased-from £140 to £150 per annum..' (7) That the Board's seal be attached to the lease of the Rutland Street building. . ■' ■ (8) That a letter be sent to the Paeroa School Committee explaining the position re attendance of the pupils at the Waihi Manual Training School, and suggesting that a male pupil teacher 1 or junior male assistant accompany the. pupils to Waihi instead of the class teacher. (9) That Miss Rosanna Bowen be called upon to pay the salary/of the sewing mistress at Honikiwi after the end of June last, in terms or the Board's letter dated the 30th September last. It was resolved that paragraph 9 be deleted, and that the Board pay the salary of the sewing mistress at Honikiwi. The Board adopted the report as amended, and approved the recommendations contained therein. The Board adjourned at 12.16 p.m.
