PREVENTION OF GUN-RUN-NING.

NATIONALIST OPINIONS

MUST BE RESPECTED

LONDON. April 30

Replying to Sir W. P. Byles (Liberal M.P. for Salford), Mr Asquith said: " Measures have already been taken which, we hope, will prevent a recurrence of gunrunning, but it is not desirable to make any public announcement."

Mr Byles asked if the gun-run-ners would not be punished. Mr Asquith said the Government was considering other aspects of the matter.

Mr J. P. O'Connor, writing in "Reynolds' Newspaper," says in reference to Mr Churchill's offer that in any arrangements which may be made the Nationalists are determined that their opinions and convictions shall be respected.
