The convention of the ' Carriage Bfuilders, Wheelwrights, and Motor Car Builders' National Association opened to-day. Mr John Bett (president) stated that during the year he he\d interviewed the Minister of Railways re modifying freight charges on imported timber suitable for coachbunding. He had since been led by the 'Minister to'hope that the recommendation would be given effect when the tariff was reconsidered. The annual report stated: that at the close of the year there we,re fifty-four members. {
