A GENEROUS GIFT.
HOSPITAL BENEFIT
Under its new regime, the Whangarei Hospital is meeting with sympathetic support from all classes of the community, and quite apart from the orthodox rate revenue. The latest display of good-will comes from Mr McKenzie, proprietor of the merry-go-round which is located on an allotment near the Settlers' Hotel and will start off in full swing tonight. Mr McKenzie proposes to give the total takings of one day to augment the Hospital Demonstration funds. There is no reservation of any kind, the Demonstration Committee being empowered to control the sale of tickets and to collect all money paid on the ground, while the proprietor will give his services gratis in working the machinery. Any day of next-week, except Saturday, is placed at the committee's option. It is superfluous to predict that the offer will be accepted promptly. The committee's choice of a day will be duly notified, and as the tickets are only 3d each there should be no lack of patronage—the more there is the better Mr McKenzie will be pleased.
