HIDES, SKINS, ETC.
Messrs Dalgety and Campany, Ltd., report having held their weekly sale of hides, skins, tallow, etc., on Tuesday, the 7th April, 1914, whem a large catalogue of all lines was offered and cleared at satisfactory prices:— ■
Hides: Market firm, with keen competition. Butchers' hides, well flayed and conditioned, stout to 9|d, medium 83d to 9d, light BJd to Bgd, cow, well flayed and conditioned to Bgd, wet conditioned Sd to B|d, dirty scored or sloppy hides at lower rates, damaged and cut s|d to 7id, stags 4§d to 6£d, kip 7d to Bd, calf, best lines 10d, good 7Jd to 9d, cut, damaged and meaty 6d to 7d.
Sheepskins: Market firm. Dry woolly skins 5/- to 7/6, medium 3/to 5/-, small 1/6 to .3/-, dry pelts 1/- to 2/-, according to length of wool. Skins with weevil eaten and weather stained pelts at lower rates. Butchers' salted lambs and pelts, best lines "to 4/3, seconds 2/6 to 3/6. Tallow: Market firm. Best in shipent casks 28/6, in 4cwt casks 25/9 27/6, seconds 22/- to 24/6, tins 8/- to .20/-, according to quality. Rough Pat: lid to 2d. Cowtails: 1/8 per dozen.
Horsehair: Tail 1/6 to 1/10, mixed /3 to 1/5, mane 9d to 1/-. Bones: Good dry, £ 5 per ton.
Wool: In bags and dumps, selling
eely, competition being good. Bright crossbred to 9ld, coarse and dingy locks and stained pieces 3d to 4d, lambs 7d to 9d, crutchings, 5d to 6d. The next sale will be held on April
