WASHINGTON, Mar. 24. Mr Perceval, British Consul, reports that his investigation disclosed that John Benton's death was not due to pistol shots. ... Mr Perceval does not state the exact cause of death, but it is believed that he wishes to infer that Benton died from wounds inflicted by a. knife or dagger.
Later: Mr Perceval, further reports that Benton disregarded the advice of his wife and friends and visited General Villa unarmed. A scuffle occurred in Villa's office. Perfect quiet followed. The body was removed. . The Consul infers that, Benton was stabbed but did hot' state who committed the deed. He thought, however, that it was' very likely one of General Villa's officers who did'it.
