At the settling of wagers to-day there was a good deal of talk regarding the difference of Soltano's form in the Derby and Clibborh Stakes. It was unreservedly recognised that Soltano races best when he is allowed to make, the running but in the Derby he was kept behind while pulling hard and that this is what beat him.

MELBOURNE, Oct. 7

At Caulfield to-day Sea Prince beat Yeneda over a mile in lmin 46 sec. Allansford beat Avonwort and Mountain Princess over ten furlongs in 2min 16Jsec. Gladwyn ran nine furlongs in 2min ljsec.

The two-year-old Kincher has been stolen from Norman Scobie's stable.

Anna Carlovha promises to start one of the hottest favourites on record for the Caulfield Cup.
