LONDON, Oct. 3

The "Morning Post" makes a statement emanating from Australia that the conference on Imperial Defence aranged for early in 1914 represents aspiration rather than f,act owing to pre-occupation with Home politics and the unsettled condition of Australian and South African politics. It is recognised, however, that the Imperial defence position needs to be discussed afresh owing to recent developments and the arrangement made at the 1909 conference regarding the Pacific can be regarded as having lapsed.
