WHANGAREI ROWING CLUB.
OPENING THE SEASON
On Thursday, October 23, the Whangarei Rowing Club opens the season with a rowing regatta at the Club's sheds. The procession will start punctually at half-past' tw<\ This alone will take over thirty men to man the boats. The usual races ■will be roW-ed and. everything promises a successful afternoon's sport.
The club is also putting on a ladies' single sculls race to be rowed in yacht's dingys.
The number of honorary members who have joined the club demonstrates approval of the scheme to purchase pleasure boats for their use.
Following are the crews to take part in the various races.—
R. H. Allan (S), J. Hogarth, Hill, M. White; C. Drummond (S), T. Ryan, R. Powell, H. Haswell; A. Jack (s), H. Mackesy, W. Murray, Manners; W. Jaik (S), W. James, Harrison, P. Nutter; G. Johnson (S), O. McLean. N. Jack, J. Marshall; J. Noton (S), J. Taylor, R. Wolner, J. Beard; E. A. Parr (S), R. Bedlington, Carruth, Monkhouse; F. Reynolds (S), P. Oglivie, McNeish, Rough; W. Carlton (S), F. Swanberg, S. Novell, Kellegher.
Strokes of crews are asked to get their crews in training as soon as possible as on these races a lot will depend in view of the championship regatta to be held during exhibition time in Auckland.
