OUTSIDER WINS THE ST. LEGER.

LONDON, Sept. 10

In the race for the St. Leger Stakes Louvois, the Derby winner, led over half the journey but was beaten half a mile from home and finished last. White Magic took up the running and led until Nighthawk challenged, and won easily by two lengths. The time (3min 3 3-ssec) is a record.

The winner was a rank outsider and so lightly were its chances thought of that the owner didn't even trouble to go to Doncaster. Louvois gave Nighthawk lolbs and a beating in the Derby.
