BETWEEN THE RACES

Lieut, yon. Egan-Kruger, a military airman, and one of the best gentlemen riders in the German Army, executed a brilliant feat the other day. He won the first race at Madgeburg at 2 o'clock one afternoon on the steeplechaser Jaspis. Then in an army biplane he flew to Berlin, 80 miles distant, where he landed one hour and a half later on the Grunewald Racecourse. He was just in time to jump from his machine and •get on his own horse, The Dragoon, with which he won the fifth event on the card, obtaining the Potsdam Gold Cup, worth £125. The airman, whose victory at Madgeburg and flight to Grunewald only became known to the spectators when the race was over, gave him a frantic reception, and carried him shoulder high the full length of the paddock. v
