PRISON CAMP ESCAPADES.

ROTORUA, Aug. 26

Yesterday afternoon a prisoner named John Ramrnager, who is undergoing a sentence of five years' imprisonment for assault with intent, escaped from the Waipa prison camp. He was caught in Hemo Gorge last evening by Constable Clarke, brought before a justice at Rotorua this morning, and sentenced to one year's additional imprisonment.

Two prisoners at Kaingaro camp— Oharles Kingston. sentenced at Napier in March last to two years' imprisonment for criminal assault; and Herbert Wallace, Sentenced at Wellington in January last to three years' imprisonment for robbery with violence—broke the windows of their huts at about midnight and attempted to escape. They were heard, and caught just outside the huts.
