DR ADENEY'S WORLD TOUR.
The principal of the Lancashire Independent College recently retired from his post in order to take things a little more easily at the close of what has been a wonderfully strenuous career. He has accepted invitations to serve the Churches and Missions of Congregationalism in various parts of the world, and left England some weeks ago on that journey He is at present in Canada. After redeeming promises with reference to work there, h goes to various mission centres in our South Seas, meeting in consultation the workers on the stations of the London Missionary Society. From New Guinea he is to go to Australia, and then to come to New Zealand. He will lecture on such things as "The Mission of the Modern Church," "The Sunday School of the Future," "The Bible and Modern Problems." In view of his very helpful books touching on the last-mentioned theme, we shall anticipate eagerly the opportunity of hearing him upon it. Dr. Adeney is optimistic concerning religious work, albeit no man is more ready than he to give weight of influences retarding the progress of the Church. Interviewed on this point he said with a smile —"You see, whatever happens, things will ultimately come right again, for the simple reason that men cannot do without religion.' 2 In the light of that belief he has much advice to high value to give. He is a man to be heard — and heeded.
