A MENTAL ASYLUM CASE.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 23.
The charge of manslaughter against Joseph Chapman, a warder at Sunnyside Mental Hospital, in connection with the death of a patient named Charles McMeekin, was reduced to one of assault The defence denied absolutely the evidence given by the Crown witnesses. The hearing has not concluded.
