RIVER STEAMER CAPSIZES
MEN PENNED IN CABIN,
SEVEN OF CREW DROWNED LIKE RATS. NEW YORK, Aug. 20. A message from Kiokuk, lowa, reports that the river steamer Henry Bosse turned turtle. Fourteen of her crew were imprisoned below the waterline, and their fate was unknown. A heavy storm is raging. NEW YORK, Aug. 20. A later message from Kiokuk reports that seven of the crew escaped death. The other seven, caught in the cabin, were drowned like rats. The captain was flung into mid-river when the deck-house parted as the vessel capsized. A man and woman released themselves from under the boat and reached the surface, but were drowned before rescuing boats arrived.
