MURDERED FOR MONEY.

LONELY MAN'S FATE,

MELBOURNE, Aug. 11

The body of an old man named Richard Knight was yesterday found near a hut where he lived alone. His head was almost, blown off by a gunshot wound.

It is suspected that he was murdered, robbery being the motive. A gun was found in the scrub near the body of the murdered man.

Knight was possessed of considerable money, which, it is believed, he did not bank, but kept in his house. Recently his hut was robbed, and then he declared that he intended to carry his money in his pockets.

No money was found on the body or in the hut.
