"The Tale" of Two Cities," by Charles Dickens, has been chosen as the book to be considered, and should, provide plenty of interest, and, besides, scope for clever character studies. Life in London is portrayed in this work with all the skill of which, Dickens is master. Miss Bruce will give an opening paper. Several members will read passages. Discussion will follow. .

Mr Thomas McClintock*. a member* of the Whangarei High School Boaijdl of Governors', has written from OneK hunga stating that he had forwarded to the Governor his, resignation as a member of the Board. The action had been prompted by the fact that he was no longer a resident of the Whangarei district, and ;it would be inconvenient for him to/attend meetings. "I trust he concluded, "that the will, continue to prosper and that its usefulness will be felt throughout Whangarei .district and the North gener- ' ally." On the motion of Mr J. M. Killen, a resolution was carried'thanking Mr McClintock for his past services and expressing regret at Mβ resignation. All members < eulogisad the work done by Mr McClintock, and expressed regret at his resignation.
Shall we or shall we notconsent tobe vice-presidents of the Whangarei High School Old Girls' Hoqkey Club? This was a problem the High School Board of Governors were asked , to solve yes* ■terday. The ladies, it seems, wrote to the secretary of the Board, telling him that they had decided that the Boara should be requested to act as vicepresidents, and aßking.him to bring the matter before the members. Mr W. A. Carruth said he understood that the girls did not want a subscription, as was generally the.case when vicepresidents were appointed. They merely wanted the club to have the honor- of having at its head the Board Cof Governors. He, was of opinion, that the Board should accept. Mr J"., M. Killen said it was outside the province of the Board. They should not accept as a Board, but-members might take the position individually. After some further discussion it was decided to write to the club to this effect.
