t The Purua annual picnic and sports - were held in Mr Pullin's paddock on Friday, February 21st. There was a , good attendance from Purua and the surrounding districts. The weather, , which was threatening in the mornt ing, cleared up as the day wore on, and the afternoon was ideal picnic . weather. Arrangements for the day [ were most complete, and the long p:o- ---, gramme of events was carried i through under the efficient management of Mr R. D. Finlayson, secretary, . assisted by an able committee. In an afternoon crowded with events no . fewer than 16 races\ were allotted .tc children. Finlayson 2, J. Thorburn 3. A large number of people assembled at a social in the evening to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs Felix. On behalf of the settlers of Purua, Mr J. Finlayson presented Mr and Mrs Felix with a silver afternoon tea service. In making the presentation, Mr Finlayson said that the district was losing one of its most popular and respected residents. Mr Felix's genial and hospitable nature had made him a wide circle of friends. He wished him every success in his new position as proprietor of the Kamo Hotel. Mr Felix suitably responded. The inevitable dance concluded one of the most successful day's sporty held in Purua.
