PERSONAL.

Messrs. R. Lupton and H. E. G. Smith, of the Whangarei High School teaching staff, returned this morning by the Manaia.

Mr. Culpan, who was in business in Whangarei some years ago, was among the passengers arriving by the Manaia this morning.

Mr Skynner, Inspector of Public Health, left for Dargaville this morning to investigate the cause of an outbreak of typhoid fever.in that district.

A number of friends assembled last night to bid farewell to Messrs. Percy Hepburn and R. White, who left by the Manaia to-day en route for Australia, whence they intend going to America. They have been employed in Whangarei for some months past by various cabinet-making firms. Avnumber of toasts were honored and songs rendered during the evening.
