A TWO-WICKET VICTORY.
CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 13
Auckland wrested the Plunket Cricket Shield from Canterbury yesterday, but with very little to spare. Requiring only 59 runs in the second innings to gain the verdicjt, Auckland lost no fewer than eight men in the process, so keen was the fielding and so deadly the bowling of F eese and Beanett. When stumps were finally drawn the position was as follows:— Canterbury, Ist innings 8E C&ntferbury, 2nd innings 192 278 Auckland, Ist innings 220 Auckland, 2nd innings (eight • wickets 51> 279 Towards the Auckland second innings total of 59 Sale contributed 14, Wallace 13. ami Hemus 11. Reese took t wickets for 35 and Bennett 3 for 23.
