CONCERT AT GRAHAMTOWN.
IN AID OF CHURCH. A concert, organised and contributed to by a gathering of Whangarei ladies and gentlemen, who have been camping at Grahamtown for some weeks, was given at the Grahamtown Hall last night. There was a crowded house, and 16 persons travelling from Whangarei added, to the number. The musical numbers, both vocal and instrumental, were appreciatively received, and clamorous approbation signalised the successful manner in which each item was interperted. The programme was as follows:—Overture, camp orchestra; solo, Mr Partridge; recitation, Mr A. Jack; chorus, "Dixie," Camp company; bango solo, Mr Screaton; song, "O Come My Love," Miss Fountain; song "Nancy Lee," Mr N. Whisker;- humorous sketch, Rev G. C. Cruickshank; glee, "Sweet and Low," Camp company; song, "My Sunbeam Lou," Mr R. H. Allan; humorous song, "Tut, Tut," Mr C. F. Smedley; recitation, Mr A. Jack; mouth organ selection, Miss Clements; humorous sketch, Messrs G. Johnson and E. A. Simmons. Miss K. VentrySmith officiated at the piano. Mr A. H. Mason, who presided, thanked the campers on behalf of the residents of Grahamtown for the very able and practical assistance they had rendered in the effort to liquidate the debt of St. Stephen's Church, Onerahi. The funds were augmented to the amount of £3 16s 6d as a result of the concert. At the conclusion of the musical entertainment, the floor was clearied for dancing, which pastime was continued v.n ll 'l aft°r midnight.
