ULTIMATUM REJECTED.
TROOPS ADVANCE ON TEHERAN.
(Received Dec. 2, 12.28 p m.) TEHERAN, Dec. 1. Russia has declined to extend the time limit.
The Mejliss (National Council) has rejected Russia's ultimatum although. Sir E. Grey urgently telegraphed advice to the Mejliss to comply.
Thereupon the Russian troops at Resht were ordered to advance on Teheran (the Persian capital )
The Minister of Foreign Affairs has resigned.
Russia, on Wednesday, sent an ultimatum to Teheran that unless Persia replied to Russia within 48 hours, 6000 Russian troops at Resht would advance.
The Russian demands included the dismissal of Mr Shuster (Persian Treasurer General); th& payment of Russian costs; and a guarantee" that Europeans engaged in the Persian service must be approved by the Russian and British legations.
The trouble has arisen ov?r Persia refusing to apologise for an insult offered to the Russian ViceConsul, who protested against the seizure of the property of Shua-es* Sultaneh, brother of the ex-Shah, in default of unpaid taxes.
