A FORTUNATE ESCAPE.

AND A SERIOUS SEQUEL.

OVERTAKEN BY THE TIDE,

NELSON, May 2.

While Charles Lamb, a well-known resident, was cycling along the Rocks Road on Sunday, his bicycle skidded, and he was thrown over the parapet on to the rocks nine feet below.

First aid was rendered, and he seemed to recover, and later in the afternoon was seen walking along the beach.

He failed to return home, and yesterday his body was found lying on the beach.

It is surmised that he was dazed by the fall, that subsequently he lost consciousness, and was overtaken by the incoming tide. He leaves a widow and three grown-up sons.
