A CHINESE LLOYD GEORGE.
The Chinese Board of Revenue evidently has its Lloyd George. It pronoses, says the "Westminster Gazette," to meet heavy new expenditures by introducing the following taxes (presumably with the Assembly's consent) —(1) An extra tax on spirits; (2) a new earned income-tax; (ii) a new unearned income-tax. The definitions given of the last two show that by these terms the Chinese mean exactly what the present British Chancellor of the Exchequer means.
