DUELLING EXTRAORDINARY.

HUSBAND v. WIFE.

(Received Sept. 21, 5.35 a.m.)

BERNE, Sept. 20

An extraordinary husband versus wife duel took place by gas light in the principal street of Berne.

Madame Remona, a. kiosk keeper, had been divorced from Gregorio, who had been imprisoned for maltreating her. The latter, while returning from work was shot in the back and fell, but rising to her knees, she drew a revolver which she carried beneath her blouse since her maltreatment, and returned her husband's fire at a distance of 25 yards, before a panic-strick-en crowd. Each fired five shots before Gregorio was shot iv the head and died, his wife having been thrice wounded, but she will probably recover.
