Greymouth, June 27

The Maoriland Steamship Company's "Lauderdale" struck on the north tip at high tide this morning. She put out to sea, but finding that she was injured she fired rockets and subsequently ran ashore opposite the saleyards, where she lies with the seas breaking over her. The crew are safe. Captain Clark is temporarily in charge, Captain Holm be: ig ashore on sick leave. The vessel contains 600,000 feet of timber from Hokianga and Nydia Bay, consigned to Australia. She was coming here to finish loading.
