During the hearing of a case in the Supreme Court at Brisbane, the Chief Justice took exception to the appearance in Court of some Chinese with pigtails coiled on their heads. He said he understood it was just as much a mark of disrespect for a Chinese to enter a cotirt with a pigtail coiled as for an Englishman to enter with his hat on his head.
