Henry Sides, a farmer on the Waihao Downs, was found shot in a paddock about half a mile from his house yesterday. He went out to bring in the horses, taking his. gun c with him, and as he did not return loir breakfast, Mrs Sides sent her ,-bojrta -" look for his father, whom the lad found dead, with his gun lying beside him. It is supposed that deceased tripped and fell on the gun, one barrel of which went off, the charge lodging' in deceased ? s chest. Dunkdin, January 27. Miss Brown, daughter of Professor Brown, Auckland, who was run over by an express in Princes-street, has taken a turn for the better. She. ifl still suffering from severe shock, but no severe consequences are anticipated.
