♦ A YOUNG GIRL TAKES BOUGH ON RATS. [By Telegraph.] Auckland, Friday. Eaely this morning a daughter of Dr. Bakewell of Wellesley-Street, Auckland, swallowed a large quantity of Rough on Rats, and dispite every effort of medical skill she died shortly after 10 o'clock a.m. Dr. Bakewell ascribes as the reason for his daughter's rash act, mental depression arising from failure to pass examination. Her m ental powers being over-strained iv cramming for the examination, she broke down and thereby spoilt all chance of succeeding. She then became a victim to melancholia, and once before attempted to commit suicide, abstracting poison for that purpose from her father's laboratory.
