AuoHand, Friday. KAUKI GUM MARKET. Kauri gum maket continues weak with, supplies in excess of demand. Quotations for ordinary are unchanged since last week, East Coast continue to augment in town and country, but holders are still unwilling to meet buyers. Two small lines amounting to about 10 tons, sold for 50/ and 54/ respectively for immediate requirements? Supplies of all qualities for the 14 days of December, about 268 tons. We quote fair ordinary, 34/ ; beot ordinary, 36/; and East Coast (nominal) sellers, 50/ to 54/. Supplies of maize are bare and prices are firm at 3/7. Oats run from 2/2 to 2/4 ; wheat, 3/9 ; new potatoes, M 15/ to £5 10/. The market is much easier. , Butter remains the same as last week, /6 per lb. wholesale, and /8 retail, and is coming forward in excess of demand- Eggs hare increased in price, and are now quoted at /8 per dozen wholesale, and /10 retail. MB. AUPBED BUOKLAND'S KEPOBT. At Eemuera, on Tuesday, dairy cattle at late values ; store cattle in moderate number only, and in better inquiry. Pat cattle at the opening of sale were at last week's values, but rallied as the sale proceeded fully 5/ i each. Prices ranged from 11/ to 15/ per lOOlbs. for good oxen. Fat calves scarcely maintained their previous values, store sheep in fair inquiry, and fat sheep better worth about 1/ each. Lambs also, though plentiful, were of good quality, and sold freely. At the meeting of the Crown Lands Board yesterday, W. Slator was given three months in which to pay up the overdue instalments on his selection at Okaihu. R. P. Weaver was granted permission to reside off his selection at Opuawhanga. The requests of the following were also granted : —W. Simpson, Opuawhanga ; Charles John, Waipu. Crown Lands Board yesterday resolved, in order to comply with the wishes of the Monganui, HoManga, Whangarei, and Waitemata County councils, it is advisable that control of the Kauri gam industry outside of the Borough be in the hands of county councils, with power to prevent digging for, or dealing in Kauri gum without a license issued by them, the respective countries to charge for such licenses, and apportionate proceeds; for county purposes, it being optional for any country to use or! declare such control as it thinks fit It is further adviseable that an. act to effect this purpose be submitted for j consideration of Parliament next session.
