CORRESPONDENCE.

THE WHANGAREI HEADS CONCERT.

(To the Editor.) • Sib, — In your report of the Whangarei Heads Concert, whoever your correspondent may have been, he must have been actuated by low motives in making the charges he did against the. Whangarei visitors. His allegations, then, are entirely false. As for his statement that the Whangarei visitors ''marred the evening's proceedings," is entirely a miscarriage of truth ; for how, indeed, could they mar the evening's proceedings when they only arrived at the Heads as the concert was almost over. A writer of such an article cannot possibly have the interests of the social community at heart, for his letter contains not the smallest minutiae of sympathy, whereby such rowdy proceedings as he complains of might be averted in the future. On the other hand, the Heads people cannot wonder at Whangarei visitors avoiding Heads amusements if such remarks as a " band of hoodlums " is to bethrown at them every time they visit us for an evening's amusement. I have the authority, sir, of tho Heads Hall Committee to refute in toto the allegations made by your correspondent against the Whangarei visitors, and hope that they will not take offence at the remarks of one who, from the tenour of his report, evidently appears to be a person wholly devoid of principle, and in whose calibre.not the smallest particle of truthfulness exists:— Tours &c. A. McGbegob. One of Hall Cbmmifte.
