It would appnar that Trenton, as well as his half-brother Niagara, has cracked up, for iv addition to being withdrawn from the Melbourne Cup, the son of Musket 's name •is missing from the whole of the weight-f cr- age events to be decided at the V. R. C. Meeting. Major George has left Australia for the purpose of attending the C. J. C. meeting. He appears very- sanguine about Nelson's chance m the New' Zealand Cup, who is getting through his work in the most satisfactory manner of late, and anything sent with him comes off second best. ■ The big son of King Cole is backed for the Cup at 1000 to lfi. Mr E. Wilson, the celebrated English crosscountry rider, is coming out on a visit to the colonies. He has had an extraordinarily successful career at home, having a grand average for years past. He rode Raquet when that horse won the Liverpool Grand National two years ago. Hanlan proposes the time fixed for the sculling match with Beach be changed to a later date, owing to his hands being in a bad condition.
