KAURI GUM MARKET. • The kauri gum market is decidedly weaker, fewer buyers at present, and somewhat lower prices expected. Best ordinary will almost inevitably decline in value owing to the certainty of freer supplies. Best ordinary, consequent on recent rains and price accepted during recent dry season as fair ordinary, must be thereby depreciated. East Coast will also be less of necessity till next dry season. Supplies continue free, being for 12 days of May 205 tons, still averaging 6000 tons per annum. Although prices are not materially changed since hist report, we can only quote this week as follows, with downward tendency. Fair ordinary 41/ to 42/,
best ordinary 44/ to 45/, and East Coast 57/ to 59/. MR. ALFRED BUOKIAND's REPORT. Mr Alfred Buckland reports at Remuera on Thursday, dairy cows yarded in full numbers, and brought up to £8 ; very few fat cattle yarded, but no improvement in price. Fat sheep also scarce, with no alteration in value, wethers selling up to 10/6 each. Fat calves and pigs sold at late values.
