On his passage to Auckland from Tuatoroa, Capt. We see that a meeting of the Whangarei Mutual Improvement class is called for Thursday the 16th inst., to make arrangements for tho ensuing season. The first session of this Association was productive of much good, and wo hope to see the coming season marked by still greater .zeal ftnd intelligence by our young men. v

Wo call the attention of our readers to the advertisement of the Wesleyan Sunday School anniversary at Kamo on Sunday next. The school has very largely met a spiritual need, done good work during tJie past, and is deserving of practical sympathy. We learn, with a good deal of pleasure, that some of the j'ouug men in our township intend to form a pcymna3tic class. We have already got cricket and football clubs, as well as plenty of lawn tennis and boating, and there is no reason why we should not have a good gymnastic "class. In Auckland and other places, young men dirive a lot of pleasure as well as muscle from these classes, and it is to be hoped that the promoters of this class will meet with the success the venture deserves. We hope to see a meeting called at once, and preliminaries arranged, so that the class may be in full swing by the time the winter months are upon. us. While we have this sort of innocent amusement in our midst, as many as possible should joiu, and thus enable the thing to be gone into throughly. Trapeze, tumbling, fencing, boxing, vaulting, Roman rings and all kinds of acrobatic performances should, be started. , ; Garlick & Cranwell's is the best house 'in Auckland to buy your furniture, carpets and floorcloths from.
