Tim Autumn Meeting of the above Club took place on the Waipu Course, on Wednesday. The day was remarkably fine, tho sun being, somewhat hot,* and %5 roads very dusty. The racing passed . "Kvory creditably if the complete "boil ov^ o f the Cup Handicap be excepted. The r^igir in. all the races except that one menp^a^ci vas hotly contested for. Mr H. McKenzie's Grenadier also ran . Taw'liiao was scratched, not having arrived. The horses got away to a good start, Trovatoro leading, then Rnfus, Grenadior, and Speculation last. This position was held all round till when opposite the grand stand Granadier struck the hurdle and fell heavily, and was never again in the race. ■' When passing the grand stand the second time Rufus struck the hurdle with such force as to knock it down, hut managed to keep his feet. Trovatoro was never headed and jumped very well, wiuning easily by about two chains, Speculation a chain behind Rufus, who scored second place. Time, 4min. 33fsec. 17 tickets on totalisator, 30 on winner. Dividend, 15/. Hurry Scurry. Post entries. Distance 1 mile. Catch weights. J. This was decidedly the best race of the day. The starter had a lot of trouble getting the horses away together. Phoebe was the first to show in front, closely followed by Pang and Speculation. Passing the grand stand Phoebe was still ip front, with Pang and Speculation running neck and neck a length behind, Koerama. pulling up on them. Ladybird dropped some distance behind. Pang now showed signs of distress and dropped back to fourth place, the first three horses being about matched. Koerama had the outside running, Phoebe inside. Coming up the straight they were all apparently "neck and neck, whips on. Each horse did its utmost to score a victory and it was a most exciting contest. Phoebe eventually won by about half a neck from Speculation, who was half a neck from Koerama. Time, 3min. 9secs. Seven Tickets on the totalisator, one on the winner. Dividend, £$ 3/. Waipu Jockey Club Handicap of 30 soys. Distance, 2 miles. Nomination, 40/. Acceptance, 20/. J. McLean's Nell, 7st 101 b. . 1 A. Thomas-B eeswing, 9st . . . . 0 This race resulted in a complete boil over. The horses went away to a good start, Nell in front, Beeswing hard held. After passing the grand stand the first time Beeswing bolted off the course, and Nell got a quarter of a mile of a start. White turned the mare round again, and giving her her head, she went round at a tremendous pace, and when opposite the grand stand only a few chains separated them. Here Beeswing bolted again, and like the wandering sheep, "would not be controlled." White, after getting her on the course again went half way round, when she bolted again. Here while trying to control her, White was thrown off, but without being huit. Meanwhile Nell cantered in a winner. Time, smin. This course is from right to left, just the opposite from other courses. Mr TGomas tells us that Beeswing will not run this way. Sht has bolted off this course before. No tickets were on the totalisator. It was considered as a moral certainty that Beeswing would have won easily. As Beeswing was distanced, there is no second place. Hack Race of — soys. For horses that have never run for public money. Entrance, 20/. 10 stone up. Distance, 1 mile. E. Mooney's Koerama . . . . 1 Colbeck's Doctor 2 McLean's Rob Roy . . . . . . 2 Mr Morgon's Tommy also ran. This was an uneven race, Koerama winning easily by three lengths, Rol Roy a bad third.
