ARREST OF AN IRISH PRIEST.
London, March 18. Father Kelver, parish priest at Youghal, Cork, Ireland, has been arrested for refusing to appear in Dublin as a witness in a case against a defaulting tennant. London, March 20. Father Kelver, parish priest at Youghal, who was arrested for refusing to appear as a witness in a case against a defaulting tenant, was yesterday brought to Dublin. At all the towns and villages en route he received an ovation from the populace. On being brought before the Court in Dublin, he refused to answer questions, and was committed to prison for contempt of court. A large crowd escorted him to prison. In the House of Commons last night the Irish members enveighed against
the arrest of Father Kelver, and accused the government of the wilful exasperation of the Irish people in order to justify coercion in Ireland. Mr. Arthur Balfour, the new Irish Secretary, vehemehtly replied to tho accusation, and declared that to tho baneful agitation of the " Plan of campaign " was due she disorder in Ireland.
