Head Office Information Bureau
A NOTE FROM THE BTATIOtfAI PRESIDENT. v
In the five months since the scheme for a Labour Information Bureau has
been before sympathisers,, the fund for that purpose has not quite reached half the amount necessary to make it an assured success. This is good, but not good enough.! There are many who have not yet contributed, but have a notion they will do so soon. In matters of this na r ture the worst thing one could do is to hesitate —"Never put off until tomorrow—what you can give to-day." The moment you feel that the Bureau is the required thing, on that moment pull out the £1, enclose it in an envelope and post direct to the National Secretary. In a day or so you will have the equivalent in your pocket in the shape of a receipt, which will show you to be a believer in deeds not words. Surely we cannot forget how the pioneers of Labour and Socialism laid the foundation of our great Movement. -The tales of devotion and sacrifice are such that no other cause can surpass— blessed thought—we have some great hearts still believing. Wage earners! Salary workers! It is up to you. Times are not very good; they may be much worse if you don't combat the anti-Labour forces, who are always well supplied with the means to put their case. We want to tell you who owns the press in New Zealand, and for what purpose. We want to show how taxation is thrown on the least able to bear it. We want to show you how the Banks operate. We want you to know to what extent insurance companies bleed the community. We want to give you the strength of Shipping Rings. We want to give the amount of wealth you create and who gets it. We will show you how the rich are getting richer whilst the workers are getting poorer. We think you ought| to know to what extent you are governed by foreign investors. We want this summer to start a propaganda throughout the country which will spell disaster to the old regime of Tories and Liberals. Your contribution will help mightily. Let us have it now. Never mind the new hat —you will get it in any case. Let ns have that £1000 before September is out. "Be just (IN TIME) and fear not." —JT. BRINDLE.
