Christchurch Municipal Drivers

At the last, meeting of the Christchurch City Ccuu?il the Finance Committee reported that it had gone carefully into the question of drivers' wages. It recommended that they be those provided for in the local bodies' drivers' award, which were: — One or two horse drivers, 1/S perhour, plus council bonus of id. per hour,' £4/2/-. per Aveek.. Under the motor car and horse drivers' award the Avages should be: —One horse driver £3/17/-, -plus council bonus of; -';d. per hour, £3/111/- per Aveek; two', horse drivers, £?,/ls/G, plus bonus, 1 £4/1/6 per week. ! The Canterbury Drivers Unioa i wrote asking that a conference he . arranged between the council and the union to discuss wages and conditions to form the basis of a new agreement in connection Avith the council's drlv-, erg. ■ Councillor F.
