verily t'-iese Liberals are a queer kind of people. Of course, I refer to the" present-day "spurious" brand
There really IS an "epidemic of dishonesty" in the "air these days. The "Liberals," having- no policy of their own (how CAN they have, seeing that they can only be FOR or AGAINST the good of the community, and if the former, they should be in the Labour ranks, and if the latter, in Reform's ranks) have to resort to the ancient device of "stealing their fire." ■ .
Listen to th?nc extracts
"The Reform Party stood for vested interests, and even the farmers realised the dangers in that direction. The Auckland Farmers' Union had drawn pointed attention to the fact that behind the Government all the the '.spectre of vested interests.' Under existing- conditions it was hopeless to expect cheap money. The Liberals would overcome that, by establishing a State Bank. He instanced the success of the Commonwealth Stats Bank, Because of the influence of vested interests, the Government was carofuL to see that the Sstate Fire Office was not over successful."
And so cm—planks lifted right out of .Labour's; platform — used to influence workers' votes, Yet in the House, on an/ quest ion involving the workers' interests thi? candidate would vote with Reform! Why this canoufiage? • ■ .*.
