Many mothers, living lives of poverty duetto the jfagei paid their husbands, view an .addition to their" fanialaes with feaa and depression. Under Masseyism mid Capitalism, the .coming oi a child is'many times a tragedy rather than a joy. -->.*,_:' A system which condemns thousands of homes to hardship and privation is the enemy of the home, because it '.crushes the soul of the Mother, undermines her physique, and forMdsja decent opportunity to her children, both pre-natally and after birth. Last year, in New Zealand, mainly asthe result M bad housing and poverty, 164 mothers died in child-birth and m> less than 1513 babies died-before they reached the age of twelve njonths. Between 1911-20 there were 6,804 still-births in tMs- country, 14,075 babies died under twelve months of age, and 1,350 motherdied in giving birth to children. Altogether 22,220 lives! The Labour Party is determined to end this system in the interests of the Mothers and Children of New Zealand. Last session the Labour Party introduced -a Bill to pay an endowment to Mothers.' The Massey Party threw it out. The excuse of the Masseyites was that there was "no money," yet within a few weeks after Mr. Massey declared that "the money would be found" for another war with the Turks! No money to relieve the anxieties of mothers' bringing sons into the world, but millions to massacre them in thousands. This too in a land where every woman has the right to vote! Women! End these infamies '■ by- demanding humane treatment and electing Labour to Power.
