Arbitration Court Personalities
In tne course of the proceedings in connection with the printers' dispute in the Arbitration Court, Mr. Scott, the employers' representative on the Arbitration Court, endeavoured to disparage the "Grey River Argus," the Labour daily newspaper on the West Coast, on the ciuesCion of wages and conditions. At a later period iv the dispute reference was made to the good wages paid to linotype operators at the Maorlland WprkoT Office. This statement caused scoffing laughter from Mr. Piranh- that dual personality who "writes down" the workers' representatives when ho is reporting for the "Dominion" . newspaper and opposes the..workers' representatives when the printing trade-dispute is on. Both these gentlemen were, severely criticised at a later stage by Mr. Remi, the workers' representative, for their unfair references to the newspapers run in the intei-ests of organised Labour. It was observable that on every occasion the Maorlland Worker was referred to Mr. Pira'ni nearly fell off his perch.
