SECOND WAGE CUT

Widespread Pretest to. be Organised On Friday the Arbitration Court made another general order, this time cutting wages of adult male workers 3/- a week, women workers 1/6, and youths 1/-. According to the Court the workers are receiving these amounts over and above the cost of living, and are not entitled to them.

A New Zealand-v/lde protest is now in course of preparation, and it is hoped by energetic measures to arouse the workers from the spineless apathy with which, they have taken the procession of a-ttaclcs on their living standards and. rights.

In the Wellington Trades Hall on Thursday a very largely-attended meeting of Trade Union representatives decided to oppose the cut, and a committee consisting of delegates from the Alliance of Labour and other Unions was appointed to consider action.

A resolution was passed to' oppose the order In the Court and suggesting to the Unions of New Zealand that only one representative should appear on behalf of Labour when the case was h«ard. Mr. J. McCombs, M.P., was selected as the Unions' agent for recommendation to the industrial movement. In order to stimulate the" interest rt the workers and to inform the public of the injustice of this latest cut, it was resolved to organise a monster demonstration in the "Basin Reserve on the afternoon of NEXT SUNDAY. The services of the Waterside Work- , ers' Band will be utilised, and arrangements are in hand to organise an effective band of speakers. YOU must attend this meeting. Brisg your mates. . Don't let your wife stop away—-push the pram or carry the baby. Raise your voices against the robbery of the workers while the rich wallow in luxury. ALL TOGETHER, DEMONSTRATE YOUR POWER AND CALL A HALT. TO THE EXACTIONS OF THE EXPLOITERS AND PROFITEERS.
