ACCOMMODATION AT STATE MINES

It appears that work at the State mines is being impeded by the want of accommodation for the miners. There.is plenty of room for additional men in the mines but in present conditions they cannot travel from Runanga and Greyhiouth and return the same day. .

In this connection the following telegram was sent to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Mines from the Coast by the Secretary of the local union:—"At a meeting of the \State miners to-day I was directed to urge upon you to have a start made with the hoist to Liverpool No. 1 Mine. Port Elizabeth finished. Plenty of work at Liverpool, but no accommodation. Thirty miners will have to leave the district. Suggest these men be engaged on the hoist without delay." . \
