MACBETH BAIN

On Conscientious Objectors.

"The men who constitute the army of genuine non-militants are in the very heart of what is to-day the fight of fights; and in their heart and in the power of their very blood, this fight fbr a higher righteousness is outworking itself. They are the supreme heroes of the hour, for they are among us as the actual human media or living flesh-centres through which the powers oi! the white or pure-shining light are working. And their presence among us as a point of contact is necessary to this super-mundane outworking of the will of this cosmos. And for this specific purpose have they arisen out of the human stuff of to-day. To any one who has eyes to see it is clear as day that the coming of these men amongst us is the sure sign of the coming reign of Peace. "We maintain that in these genuine Christ-men of to-day we have the finest expression of our spiritual manhood, and therefore of the highest potency of the incarnate Good. "For they are our supreme Christmen; they the real supermen of to-day. They are our men of God; for they certainly do put God, or all that they hold as the one Good Thing, first.

"For this God-will in them is so complete that there is no question with them of any self-sacrifice to its power. "And to realise this holy Will of Good they count not of any value Hie life or the comfort of their own flesh or even of their dearest ones. "And this they do gladly, caving not for, and seeking in no way the sympathy or esteem of any soul."
