At? p.m. a public meeting v.aij hold, which was well attended, when j the following lesoluiion was carried j unanimously: — . j This public meeting condemns the. victimisation which is being allowed on tho Greymouth and .Auckland wharves, and considers the amendment to tho Conciliation and Arbitration Act, introduced by the-Minister for Labour, ostensibly to remedy the j acknowledged evil,, as being alto-| {>ether inadequate and in no way promising a just- solution or establishing the elementary to live for the, workei'3 concerned. This meeting ■ therefore calls upon the National, Government to withdraw the pro-1 pvsed amendment to the C and A.! Act. and to substitute effective legi>-, lation which would place tho right i to earn, a livelihood within the .reach j of all and without in any way heaping still further indignities upon men seeking work. , ■ POPPER.
