LONG-WINDED WRITERS.
Sir, —I am of opinion that the ventilating of ideas through tho columns of "The AVorker" is good for tho writer of the letter —he or sho relieves the mental strain- temporarily, anyhow— good for "Tho Worker" itself and for its readers, provided—provided what? That longwindednoss is not a feature of tho correspondence. There is nothing jars tho average reader more than an article or letter that winds its way over space unlimited. It is'not'read.' It "is passed on for something shorter. In any case, tho ordinary man or woman—and we are only ordinary, wo readers and contributors to. "The Worker," even. if. some do write, extrar, ordinarily long' letter's or' should not trespass upon more than a quarter of a column' of space, with a - half or two-thirds of a 'column under special circumstances. As .Tosh Billings said, This is not "writ sarcastic," but with the best of intentions because the writer knows through his little experience with men and women that nothing calculates to turn people off an articlo moro than' its length. It is' a whole lot better to Writo a short or medium length articlo and "have it read than to spread-eagle over a lot of space and not be read, and consequently not appreciated.' Even though wo havo lost a libel suit, "The Worker" will still appear, and thero is, in consequence, no reason why those who have 'a lengthy message to deliver couldn't . savo a bit for another issue, and thus avoid piling it all upon one. I am, otc.-CRITIC. .''•■".*'; '
