EXCHANGING UNION AWARDS.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—Will you kindly allow mc space in your valuable paper to -ask fellow unionists their opinion .on a subject that is of vital importance. Throughout New Zealand-at the present time practically every trade ..union is being brought under the. jurisdiction of tho Arbitration Court, and have of necessity to get thoir awards and-agreements passed by the said court. 1 am of. the opinion that if fellow unionists aro. really anxious to assist one another there is a way open to.them that would entail very little expenditure, but would greatly

assist those unions w ho are about to seek a new award. This is the point I would like to see discussed, viz.;' could iiot'asyfctem-ot" exchangeof awards bo made, between the different xiftioris'' in each \for instance, take the Winers on'the'West Coast, Canterbury, Otago, Southland, and the North Island; the samo with the bakers' unions, the 'carters,; etc.. Let each union t exchange j awards, and I feel sure thero will be valuable assistance rendered to their fellow unionists. No doubt tho point will bo raised j that an award that is suitable for ono place will not suit another; but thero are clauses in ono award that would, I am sure, be very helpful to a union in another part of New Zealand, when drawing up a now award. Then again, if awards from all over j Now Zealand were in the union office, ] unionists who wero going from ono I job to another would bo ablo to see] tho .award under which tho"'mon were working in' any other* place thoy intended to' go toV* I believe "this would bb..'verj r "help'ftil to ; fellow 'unionist's. I am, etc.,' " ' '-'■ " '' '■-' ;; . ;'' * '■'■.•''' 7;,G*.,A':PERRi_Ni v ;: j Sec. 'Homebush Miner's' -'Union', j
