"Worker" Post Bag

T. EDMONDS, Napier.—Too long. The only point you make is that H. E. Boote, of Sydney "Worker," lays it down that the Australian system p{ compulsory training is in the. direction- of socialisation. You aro correct in inferring that the Australian and N.Z. systems are similar —indeed the Australian system is even mote relentlessly cruel -|han ours. But •that doesn't prove that either N.Z. conscription or Australian conscription is socialisation. You have overlooked the point that Bootes position is untenable from a Socialist viewpoint. J.K., Moeaira. —Handed tc Manager. ALEX. McI.EOD, Wuiiganui: T.B , Auckland; E.P., GTsborne; E.T., Palmerston N. —Received too late for this issue. Next week. JIM HARRIS, Auckland.—You say that you have no doubt that we will now print your letter because you are writing direct to "The Worker." But more is required, viz., observance of the ordinary rules of courtesy. We cannot c*\o. you space to say several times over that "Ohis" is inconsistent and dishonest (it is quite possible that lie is not a whit more honest than Jim H.); nor do we think it would interest our readers if wo were to let you say in five different ways that "Tho Worker" is a lying paper, capable of malicious slanders, and a champion liar. We agree with you in one particular. ''Strange things" do happen at this office. The arrival of your letter was one of them. We have no doubt whatever that if the "No-Ljcengo Party, its executive, anel Mr. Dawson and Mr. Bedford" had 'felt in any way aggrieved by cnything that appeared in "The Worker" they should have hastened to demand such correction as appeared to them to be necessary. We are sure they would have stated their case in civilised language: and it is needless to add we should have readily accorded them whatever ppace they de«ired. RED FED., Thames.—Appeared in last R.W., Dunedin; J.A., Franklin; M.E., Wanganui; R S., Christchurch; S.M., West Coast: T.R., Dunedin; P.F., Invercargill; JK., Wairarapa; 1.M., To Kuitj; C.N., Taihape; F.R., Lvtteltcn; G.F., Cms; L L., Springfield; "FARMER," O;ford.-Re-ceived.
