The foregoing advertisement, which was printed in a Wellington, paper last Thursday, came under the notice of the police authorities, who believed that it was bogus. Inquiries were instituted, and on Saturday night .Detective-Ser-geant McHvenoy and Detective Bailey arrested a man on a charge of attempting to obtain from various persons tho sum of £'l by false pretences. Tho accused will appear before the Magistrate's Court to-day.—"Times" (Wellington), July 29.
